I'm super fortunate to have been selected to participate in the JUMP Mentoring program for 2012! From the JUMP site: JUMP is a national mentoring program for artists aged 18-30, who are in the first five years of their professional practice. JUMP artists are supported to undertake a one on one mentorship with a leading professional of their choice, focused on a funded creative project. JUMP is serious about championing our nation's next generation of arts industry leaders, and ensuring that geography and ...Read More

I've set up a new blog called Scroll - Type It exists to document my travels abroad from Japan, The Netherlands, and onto the United States, where I'll be taking part in an artist residency for the rest of 2011. I've used the wonderful COL horizontal scroll theme by Greg Ponchak. 3rd self-released EP from The Min Min Lights: Secret Sessions, released today. ‘Secret Sessions’ was recorded during residence at our old farm-style cottage share-house at Doon Court, in Briar Hill, Victoria, Australia. The recordings were taken in 2009 from practice sessions of our live performance score for Kwaidan, which took place at Rainbow Serpent Festival the same year. We have decided to release the recordings, but true to The Min Min Lights ethos, we journeyed to the Blue Mountains National Park ...Read More

To celebrate the first anniversary of the audio-visual project NOUMINA, I have decided, after much deliberation, to release it online for free download. NOUMINA uses open-source material: hi-res images from NASA, the Planetarium software Stellarium - and as such is offered to the public under a creative commons license. For release, I've never wanted to compromise on quality - which seems to be a given with web video at this point in time. So I have decided to avoid the compression ...Read More

I'll be taking part in BYOB Utrecht, a one-night-only video projection exhibition. BYOB stands for 'Bring Your Own Beamer' - that's 'projectors' for all us non-Europeans. The night is being run by Setup Media Lab, and I'm fortunate enough to have them arrange an install of Mute City Dreemz (2010) for me. From the Setup website: The white space reinvented. For one night we will take over the Utrecht Center for Fine Arts and turn the walls of the space into a ...Read More

It's re-launching as 'Hyperspace Visionary Art Gallery' and will exist to support and feature artists working within the psychedelic, surreal, sacred and visionary arts. The opening show features French/Australian artist Aurélien Pumayana Floret. Having exhibited alongside Alex Grey recently at the Astor Theatre visionary art show, Aurel's digital visions will be on display at Hyperspace from the 6th - 18th of May, 2011. Creative communities across the world are jamming in new cultural centres, for hobbyists and professional fine artists. Ever wanted a space where you could tinker with electronics, or maybe just edit a video with Final Cut Pro? Don't have the gear to build a project but need to get started somehow? Or maybe you never went to Art School but always wanted to discover something about making things, while meeting a bunch of cool people? Creative centres across the globe are ...Read More

Chaired by Alva Noto and featuring a swathe of super-pro electronic artists in all categories, its a privilege to be nominated. After spending a good couple of months working on grant and sponsorship applications this year, it seems the hard work has paid off! I was fortunate enough to have been a successful applicant in this round of  'ArtStart Grants', an initiative of the Australia Council for the Arts. ArtStart grants are available to practitioners of almost any creative field, who have recently graduated from a course related to their creative practice, and who intend to establish a sustainable arts career. I'm using ...Read More

Recently, I  had the privilege of attending an immersive cinema lab in Perth, entitled DomeLab 2010. It was a one week intensive residency on live-action content-creation for 'Full Dome' , or 'Planetarium cinema', presented by the Australian Network for Art and Technology. I was interested in attending the residency for it's immersive potential, and being a media and sound artist was intrigued about the possibilities for a high-definition cinematic experience. The workshop was a hectic 6 day experience, meeting upwards of 30 artists, designers, technicians, tutors, ...Read More

If you're in Melbourne get out to Paradise Hills Gallery in Richmond to see the vital new solo show by Ry David Bradley, in collaboration with Californian artist Parker Ito. It's one of the raddest shows I've seen in Melbourne in a while, and the Metro Gallery blog has a great text summing up both artists by curators Sean Irving and Nina Renee. I snapped off a few shots at the opening last night, which featured a live Skype session with Parker ...Read More

Mute City Dreemz (2010) HD Video Projection onto Trace, Glass 1080p, dimensions variable Description: The Paleolithic used the cave painting ceremonially to visualize the hunt - to either worship or call upon the Bison for its blessings (to be used for food, tools, clothing). Today, we do not use these methods – I do not visualize a supermarket or retail department store through art in order to bring food, clothing, goods etc. Our visions are of a different kind – a ‘better’ ...Read More
