To celebrate the first anniversary of the audio-visual project NOUMINA, I have decided, after much deliberation, to release it online for free download. NOUMINA uses open-source material: hi-res images from NASA, the Planetarium software Stellarium - and as such is offered to the public under a creative commons license. For release, I've never wanted to compromise on quality - which seems to be a given with web video at this point in time. So I have decided to avoid the compression ...Read More
I'll be taking part in BYOB Utrecht, a one-night-only video projection exhibition. BYOB stands for 'Bring Your Own Beamer' - that's 'projectors' for all us non-Europeans. The night is being run by Setup Media Lab, and I'm fortunate enough to have them arrange an install of Mute City Dreemz (2010) for me. From the Setup website: The white space reinvented. For one night we will take over the Utrecht Center for Fine Arts and turn the walls of the space into a ...Read More
I've spent the last couple months helping my friends at The Pixie Collective develop their gallery space. It's re-launching as 'Hyperspace Visionary Art Gallery' and will exist to support and feature artists working within the psychedelic, surreal, sacred and visionary arts. The opening show features French/Australian artist Aurélien Pumayana Floret. Having exhibited alongside Alex Grey recently at the Astor Theatre visionary art show, Aurel's digital visions will be on display at Hyperspace from the 6th - 18th of May, 2011. If you're in Melbourne get out to Paradise Hills Gallery in Richmond to see the vital new solo show by Ry David Bradley, in collaboration with Californian artist Parker Ito. It's one of the raddest shows I've seen in Melbourne in a while, and the Metro Gallery blog has a great text summing up both artists by curators Sean Irving and Nina Renee. I snapped off a few shots at the opening last night, which featured a live Skype session with Parker ...Read More
Mute City Dreemz (2010) HD Video Projection onto Trace, Glass 1080p, dimensions variable Description: The Paleolithic used the cave painting ceremonially to visualize the hunt - to either worship or call upon the Bison for its blessings (to be used for food, tools, clothing). Today, we do not use these methods – I do not visualize a supermarket or retail department store through art in order to bring food, clothing, goods etc. Our visions are of a different kind – a ‘better’ ...Read More

NOUMINA presents a story, an abstract narrative, a cinematic journey through the cosmos. From a twinkly gaze at the stars, we are confronted with a presence, a geometric object, and are taken on a journey to its domain. Through super hi-resolution images of the Universe, the participant experiences multi-dimensional layers, geometric viewports to other-worldly realities. Accompanied by a hypnotic original score, the piece swoons and arcs over multiple moods and territories, finishing back at our home world, again at the gaze of ...Read More
