I'm super fortunate to have been selected to participate in the JUMP Mentoring program for 2012! From the JUMP site: JUMP is a national mentoring program for artists aged 18-30, who are in the first five years of their professional practice. JUMP artists are supported to undertake a one on one mentorship with a leading professional of their choice, focused on a funded creative project. JUMP is serious about championing our nation's next generation of arts industry leaders, and ensuring that geography and ...Read More
I've set up a new blog called Scroll - Type It exists to document my travels abroad from Japan, The Netherlands, and onto the United States, where I'll be taking part in an artist residency for the rest of 2011. I've used the wonderful COL horizontal scroll theme by Greg Ponchak. Documenting day-to-day experiences via short text pieces, poetry, and a selection of travel photos. http://scroll-type.com Read More
Creative communities across the world are jamming in new cultural centres, for hobbyists and professional fine artists. Ever wanted a space where you could tinker with electronics, or maybe just edit a video with Final Cut Pro? Don't have the gear to build a project but need to get started somehow? Or maybe you never went to Art School but always wanted to discover something about making things, while meeting a bunch of cool people? Creative centres across the globe are ...Read More
After spending a good couple of months working on grant and sponsorship applications this year, it seems the hard work has paid off! I was fortunate enough to have been a successful applicant in this round of 'ArtStart Grants', an initiative of the Australia Council for the Arts. ArtStart grants are available to practitioners of almost any creative field, who have recently graduated from a course related to their creative practice, and who intend to establish a sustainable arts career. I'm using ...Read More
Lately I've been totally obsessed with film & cinema. I've got a few shows coming up this year (predominantly installation) and I started checking out a lot of sci-fi as part of research for the work. Slowly it bled over to just more film-watching in general. Read More
Some great reviews for the Feeding the Transmitter compilation are floating about on the web...Really nice to see the release get a review on Neural too! I love that site and magazine... ! One particularly nice story on the relevance of CD samplers in the current day is up on Tokafi, with a little mention of the track I had on the compilation... Read More
Well, after months of speculation my laptop finally died. I'm not sure if it was a result of general wear and tear, or if i should actually suspect someone may have tipped water on it - as the Mac repair guys deemed the problem "logic board damage due to liquid spill". They want $2,300 to replace the logic board, which just makes no sense at all. A new Macbook itself is only a mere $1600. Where do they get off charging ...Read More
You've got to wonder how many people actually read your blog. And what the point of it really is. It's like a public record I guess, well, I guess for me it is. But lately I've been using Facebook a lot, and I'll use it to post video's I like, things I'm interested in, quotes, events etc... It's kinda confusing having all these portals. Even at home I keep a journal, which I guess is just for my own personal ...Read More
