Noumina

To celebrate the first anniversary of the audio-visual project NOUMINA, I have decided, after much deliberation, to release it online for free download.

NOUMINA uses open-source material: hi-res images from NASA, the Planetarium software Stellarium – and as such is offered to the public under a creative commons license.

For release, I’ve never wanted to compromise on quality – which seems to be a given with web video at this point in time. So I have decided to avoid the compression artefacts that seem to plague community video sharing websites, and instead offer the piece for direct download, via the Dropbox cloud service.

It is my intention that a viewer would watch the piece in fullscreen with all the regular cinematic cliches – in a dark space, on a good sound system, with the biggest, brightest screen available, and where possible, viewed on a HD projector.

As NOUMINA was designed for gallery installation, its usual presentation is in a looped format, but here I offer the piece as a linear ‘film’ version.

Feel free to share it, burn it for your friends, pass it around on the street, include it in any screening, cinema or film program you feel this film would compliment.

I hope you enjoy the piece.

Thank You.
