Julien Maire 'Digit' - De Balie Foyer
A lone man sits at a desk passing his hand over blank pages. Miraculously, words appear, as if typed. I was unsure how this piece was executed, either by some form of 'stamp' hidden within the artists' palm, or perhaps some kind of heat sensitive system, however resulted in an intriguing and entertaining spectacle.

FILM SCREENING:
Tony Conrad's: "The Flicker", 1966
This was probably one of the most intense films I have ever seen. You are simply pummeled: flickering black and white light screams at breakneck speeds for around half an hour. I had a headache after it and was literally exhausted.

FILM SCREENING: Pierre Hebert's "Around Perception", 1968
This was a kinda cute, old-school computer-game-like piece. Of course it's from the 60's. But was refreshing after Conrad's piece. The theme for the day was "films that use flicker".

Ryoichi Kurokawa LIVE @ Paradiso, Amsterdam
OK. Hands down, this guy has to be the highlight of the festival so far. I was really tired today after the film screening, and I was considering bailing on the concert, but I hung around just to see the start of some performances before I made the decision to go home. Boy, did Kurokawa wake me up. This has got to be one of best audio-visual performances I've ever seen in my life. It was a true delight to witness, and a real inspiration. The piece was such a perfect interlock of sound and visual, and such a great mix of gentle vs intensity+minimal/complex. If anything seeing this might prove to be some kind of milestone for me, and re-affirm taking art back into an audio-visual direction.
I uploaded quite a few clips, which reminds me. I totally don't think I would be able to blog like this in Australia. The Internet speed is supreme over here in Europe.
